The short version
You can use TradeStupid without an account; then everything you enter stays on your device. If you sign in, we store what you enter so your devices stay in sync — and nothing else. No ads, no analytics or tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. You can delete your account and its data at any time from the app or the site.
What we store when you sign in
- Your email address — to sign you in and, if you have positions, to send the optional morning scan email.
- What you enter — your watchlist, positions (ticker, shares, average cost, dates), recorded sales, and profile (name, portfolio size, risk tolerance, time horizon).
- A daily backup of that data, kept for 30 days, so a sync mistake can never lose it.
- Derived data — the morning scan's results for your holdings and a daily portfolio-health number.
We don't collect your location, contacts, device identifiers, or browsing activity, and we don't connect to brokerage accounts.
Who processes it
- Upstash (database) stores the data above.
- Vercel hosts the site and API; like any web host it handles your IP address to serve requests.
- Resend delivers sign-in codes and the morning scan email to your address.
- Groq runs the AI that writes summaries. It receives the stock numbers being summarized and, for the daily brief and portfolio features, your holdings and portfolio size — never your email or name.
- Yahoo Finance, Stocktwits, ApeWisdom supply market data; they only see which tickers are being looked up, from our servers.
Deleting your data
In the iPhone app, go to Account → Delete account; on the site, open your account menu. Deleting erases your synced data, backups, scan results, and health history, removes you from the morning scan, and signs out every device. Signing out (without deleting) only erases the copy on that device. If you never signed in, deleting the app or clearing your browser data removes everything.
Children
TradeStupid isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
